Dr Aline Scott-Maxwell lectures in ethnomusicology and directs the Monash Gamelan Orchestra. Her teaching and research specialisations are in Indonesian and Australian music. Aline was awarded her PhD from Monash University with a thesis on The Dynamics of the Yogyakarta Gamelan Tradition. She has held positions as Lecturer in the Department of Music, University of Sydney; Senior Asian Studies Librarian, Monash University Library; and founding co-curator of the Australian Archive of Jewish Music. She was musical director of Gamelan Kyai Kebogiro, University of Sydney, and Dome Contemporary Gamelan Monash and is a long-term member of the Astra Choir. She is a founding member of the Australian branch of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music and also active in the Musicological Society of Australia.
