• Aline’s current research focuses on Australia’s past and present musical engagement with Asia and the music of Australian migration, with specific reference to the popular music of the Indonesian, Jewish and Italian communities. She has produced over twenty peer-reviewed publications in these areas and presents extensively at conferences.

    She was co-conceiver and co-general editor of the Currency Companion to Music and Dance in Australia (Currency House, 2003), a monumental eight-year project involving over 250 authors, which musicologist and Vice-Chancellor Professor Malcolm Gillies describes as ‘…brilliant. I would say it makes the most substantial contribution yet to the understanding of Australia’s performing arts’ (Sounds Australian 63, 2004).
