Anna Teresa Scheer studied theatre in London and worked as a performer and director in Berlin where she lived until 2007. In Berlin, she co-founded the award-winning homeless theatre group Ratten 07 with the support of the Volksbühne theatre, where the multi-disciplinary artist Christoph Schlingensief was engaged as an in-house director. She returned to Australia in 2007 to take up postgraduate studies at the University of Melbourne where she is currently writing her PhD thesis on his early theatre practice. She is the co-editor (with Tara Forrest) of the book: ‘Christoph Schlingensief: Art without Borders’ (Bristol: Intellect, 2010) and has published several further articles and book chapters on his work. She lectures at the Centre for Theatre and Performance at Monash University and is a member of Performance Studies international at whose annual conference she has presented papers over the past four years. Her research interests include contemporary and post-dramatic German and European theatre, social dramaturgy, politically engaged and radical performance and Live Art.
