Ben Grayson is an internationally respected and acclaimed musician, composer, producer and educator. A classically trained pianist who developed an early love of jazz and contemporary music. Grayson is now a specialist on Hammond organ, Fender Rhodes, vintage synthesizers and music technology.
In a career spanning 20 years he has performed and recorded around the world with top artists from Europe, America and Australia. In 2013 he was hand picked by US folk legend, Martha Wainwright to join her US band for her Australian national tour and in the same year gave critically acclaimed performances with New York jazz/hop hop singer Bilal and UK soul legend Omar on their Australian tours. As a founding member of the ARIA nominated group the Bamboos, he has toured Europe extensively and composed material featured on major US television shows and movies. During a three year stint in Berlin, Grayson toured with German electronic jazz visionaries Jazzanova, and German pop mega-star Sarah Conner. In 2005 Grayson’s group Origene, a musical partnership with Pseudo Echo’s Brian Canham, spawned a number 2 hit on the US Billboard charts.
Grayson’s production credits include recording, mixing, remixing and mastering to CD and vinyl. His record label Equatorial Records garnered critical acclaim and put Melbourne’s electronic jazz producers on the international map. Under the moniker Bennson, Grayson released an album on Swedish label Raw Fusion in 2008. His production/composition work has also been featured for 7 years in the cutting edge Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival television commercial, which earned two ARIA nominations. From 2011 to 2013 Grayson has also been a regular music producer for XFactor and Australia’s Got Talent. Grayson has been an educator on piano, composition and music technology for several years.
Ben Grayson is a Yamaha artist and holds a bachelor of music performance from the Victorian College of Arts and a diploma of education from Charles Darwin University.
