David’s research focuses on Jewish life after the Holocaust, and the development of transnational networks of Holocaust survivors. His first book looks at the small group of Bundists that survived the Holocaust and sought to reestablish the Bund in the cities to which they migrated. His new project focuses on the emergence of distinct Holocaust survivor communities in the 1940s and 1950s in different urban settings, and explores the ways in which these communities formed a diaspora, based on particular shared experiences and concerns. David is also currently working on a project that explores new directions in television representations of the Holocaust.

Areas of Research & Supervision

Modern Jewish history in Europe, Australia, and the Americas; the Holocaust and its aftermath; postwar Jewish migration; diaspora; memory; labour history; public history; Holocaust representation on film & television; Israeli-Arab Conflict; and museum studies.
