Biography

Ian is a highly active musician, arranger and educator. He is a committed member of such contemporary Melbourne ensembles as the ‘Andrea Keller Quartet’ (Winner of the 2002 ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album – ‘13 Sketches’ and the Bell Award for Best Australian Contemporary Jazz Album 2008 –‘Little Claps’) and the ‘Bennett’s Lane Big Band’.

In 2002, He was a finalist in the National Jazz Awards at the Wangarratta Festival of Jazz. Ian has toured to Germany, Denmark and China as well as performing with Australian and international artists such as Gordon Brisker (USA), Bill Watrous (USA) and Satoko Fujii (JAPAN) Wayne Bergeron (USA) and Wycliffe Gordon (USA).

Ian currently teaches at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, Penleigh and Essendon Grammar and Monash University.
