Dr Katrina Hutchison

My research falls in three main areas – bioethics, feminist philosophy and agency.  I am currently working as a research fellow with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Electromaterials Science (ACES), where I explore the ethical issues associated with emerging health technologies, such as synthetic organs and advanced prosthetics. I have a wider interest in surgical ethics, particularly gender issues in surgery and issues associated with surgical innovation and research. More information about my current research…

My co-edited book (with Fiona Jenkins, ANU) Women in Philosophy: What Needs to Change came out with OUP in 2013, and brings together new work by anglophone women philosophers on women’s under-representation in academic philosophy.

My PhD (ANU, 2011) was on free will and moral responsibility, and I still have a research interest in this area, particularly social and feminist dimensions of moral responsibility.
