Rebecca Powell


Rebecca Powell is the Managing-Director of the Border Crossing Observatory. She is also working as a researcher on the Australian Deportation Project and the Fluid Security in the Asia-Pacific project.

Rebecca has been working in the field of human trafficking prevention from a law enforcement and criminal justice perspective for international organisations including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) at headquarters in Vienna, the East Asia-Pacific Regional Office, and Lao PDR country office and the Asia Regional Trafficking in Persons Project (ARTIP Project). 

She has research experience from working on numerous UNODC research consultancies, and for high profile researchers in the field, on issues associated with human trafficking, migrant smuggling and irregular migration in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
