Dr Thomas Chase is a lecturer within the Translation and Interpreting Studies Program at Monash University. Prior to starting at Monash University in 2007, he spent several years working in the private sector in both China and South Korea. Thomas coordinates Applied Translation (APG5690), Translation for Special Purposes (APG5048), as well as teaching several interpreting units. He is also actively involved in the double masters program between Monash University and Southeast University in China.
Having completed his doctoral dissertation titled “An Internet-Mediated Political Public Sphere in China and South Korea” in 2012, Thomas currently researches politics, public communication and history in East Asia with a particular focus on new media and its impact on Mainland China and South Korea. He holds professional level Chinese-English translator accreditation from the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI).
